Cookie Policy

Registration Compare is a trading name of State of Care Limited.
This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on registrationcompare.uk, what they do, and the choices available to you.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files or pieces of information placed on or accessed from your device when you visit a website.
We also use local storage for a small number of first-party records. We do not currently use session storage. We do not load advertising pixels from Meta or LinkedIn.
2. How this site actually works
Registration Compare is built so we can see whether a Google advertisement later leads to a booked discovery call, and so we can understand how the site is used if you accept extra measurement.
Those are two different things. They are not switched on in the same way.
Matching a booking to an advertisement. If you arrive from a Google ad, Google already puts a click code in the web address. We store that code on your device when you land, keep it in the web address as you move through the site, and save it with your enquiry when you submit the proposal form. If you leave and come back within 90 days, we still have it. If you later book a discovery call, we can match that booking to the advertisement. This does not wait for you to accept extra cookies, and it does not turn on Google Analytics.
Google Analytics and Google Ads tags. We load Google Tag Manager (GTM-KZVVD75V) on ordinary page views. It is the only Google tagging layer. Google Analytics and Google Ads, if used, run from that container, not as separate scripts in this app. Before you choose, storage is denied, so those tags must not set Google cookies. After you accept measurement, analytics storage is granted. If you also accept marketing, advertising storage is granted. If you reject extra cookies, storage stays denied. Google may still send limited cookieless pings while storage is denied. They do not currently send a booked-call conversion. That match uses the click code we stored. Rejecting extra cookies does not wipe a click code we have already stored.
You can accept extra measurement, reject it, or choose in more detail. Continued browsing is not treated as a yes.
3. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary. Needed to run the website, keep a requested proposal available, keep staff signed in, allow a preview when the site is gated, or remember your cookie choice.
First-party booking match. The Google click code is stored on your device when you land from an advertisement, kept in the web address as you move through the site, and saved with the enquiry when you submit the form. It is not a Google cookie. It is not switched by Accept or Reject.
Measurement. Google Tag Manager (GTM-KZVVD75V), the container that can load Google Analytics and Google Ads. Storage is denied until you accept. They do not currently send a booked-call conversion. That match uses the stored click code.
Marketing. Advertising storage for Google Ads tags in Tag Manager, if we publish them. We do not use Meta, LinkedIn or other remarketing pixels.
4. Cookies and similar storage we use
These are the first-party cookies and local-storage items set by Registration Compare.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| rc_case | Registration Compare | Keeps the signed link to your proposal so you can return to it. First-party cookie. HttpOnly. | Strictly necessary | 90 days |
| rc_admin | Registration Compare | Keeps staff signed in to the review desk. First-party cookie. HttpOnly. Set only after staff sign-in. | Strictly necessary | 1 day |
| rc-preview | Registration Compare | Lets an authorised person preview the site while it is not yet public. First-party cookie. HttpOnly. Set only when a valid preview link is used. | Strictly necessary | 7 days |
| rc_specialist | Registration Compare | Keeps a specialist signed in after they confirm an invitation. First-party cookie. HttpOnly. It lasts until that invitation expires, up to 7 days. | Strictly necessary | 7 days |
| rc_click_ids | Registration Compare | Stores the Google click code from the web address when you arrive from an advertisement, so a later enquiry and booked call can still be matched if you leave and come back. Local storage, not a cookie. | First-party booking match | 90 days |
| rc_cqc_scope:{id} | Registration Compare | Passes answers between the proposal form and the Do I need CQC registration? checker when you open the checker from the form, so you do not answer the same questions twice. Holds the service type, nation and checker answers only, not your name or contact details. Local storage, not a cookie. Set only when you use the form or the checker. | Strictly necessary | 1 day |
| rc_consent | Registration Compare | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected extra measurement. Local storage, not a cookie. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear site data |
After you accept measurement, Google may set its own first-party cookies on this domain through Tag Manager or a configured Analytics or Ads tag. Those typically include identifiers such as _ga. Google controls the exact names and durations.
We do not set cookies for Stripe, Nylas, Airtable, Make.com, Slack or Microsoft 365 on ordinary public page views. Stripe may set its own cookies on stripe.com if a specialist is sent there to pay a referral fee.
5. Analytics and conversions
Registration Compare loads Google Tag Manager (GTM-KZVVD75V) from Google on ordinary page views. Tags published in that container run under Google Consent Mode v2. Analytics cookies stay off until you accept measurement.
Those tags may collect:
- pages viewed and how people move through the site
- approximate device and browser information
- a client identifier created by Google, after you accept measurement
- limited cookieless pings while measurement is denied
They do not currently send a booked-call conversion. That match uses the click code we stored.
Tag Manager loads with storage denied. After you accept measurement, Google Analytics cookies can be set. If you later reject measurement, storage is denied again on later visits. That does not delete cookies Google has already set. You can delete those in the browser.
The Tag Manager container ID is set in the site code. Google Analytics and Google Ads are configured in that container, not as separate scripts in this app.
Separately, Vercel Speed Insights loads with the page to measure performance. In our checks it did not set a first-party cookie. It is not part of the Accept or Reject choice.
6. Third-party services
Most of the services behind Registration Compare run on our servers or through automation. They do not set browser cookies on public visitors.
Google Tag Manager loads on ordinary page views. Analytics and Ads cookies stay off until you accept measurement.
If a specialist pays a referral fee, they leave this website and use Stripe Checkout. Stripe may then set cookies on its own site.
The explainer films on the homepage and the registration specialists page are played from our own files. They do not embed YouTube, Vimeo or another third-party player.
Airtable, Make.com, Slack, Microsoft 365 and Nylas do not set cookies through the public website.
7. Accept or reject extra measurement
The cookie button and this page let you accept extra measurement, reject it, or choose in more detail. Optional boxes are not ticked in advance.
Accept grants analytics storage, so tags in Tag Manager can set Google Analytics cookies. Marketing grants advertising storage for Ads tags in that container. Reject keeps storage denied. Either choice is recorded in rc_consent.
Rejecting extra measurement does not stop the site working, and it does not stop us keeping a click code already stored so a later booking can still be matched to that advertisement.
8. Changing cookie preferences
You can change the extra-measurement choice at any time:
- use Cookie settings in the website footer, which opens this page
- The cookie button is on marketing pages. It is not shown on a customer or specialist proposal, specialist terms, a claim, a handover sheet or other operational pages. Cookie settings stay in the website footer and on this page.
- use the controls below
You do not have to clear your browser to withdraw extra measurement. Turning it off here denies storage again, so Google cookies are not read or written on later visits. Tag Manager still loads.
9. Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop a proposal link or staff sign-in from working. Browser controls are in addition to the choices on this page, not a substitute for them.
10. Privacy
For more information about how personal information is processed through Registration Compare, please read our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated when:
- website functionality changes
- suppliers change
- cookies or tracking technologies change
- legal requirements change
The latest version and revision date remain on this page.
